It is often difficult to make the special kinds of strain on a crankshaft understandable for the pupils. The main kinds of strain, torsion and flexion can be demonstrated graphically on the model. If you push the plunger down by hand (e.g. work cycle), you see the flexing and the distortion of the crankshaft quite clearly as a function of the force applied.
